Stone of the Month:
April 2018
Untitled

This low dark gray stone with an overhang is reminiscent of a coastal rock washed by repeated waves. To others, it may resemble an island. The white mineral inclusions appear like the remnants of sea foam left on the rock as waves recede. Stone connoisseur Martin Pauli beautifully paired this Aare River stone with a double-glazed ceramic tray from China, a copy of a Japanese suiban. He collected this stone twenty years ago in his native Switzerland, demonstrating that fine viewing stones occur globally.
