By Felice Colombari
This large, 50 cm wide Palombino stone was collected in 2008 near Lake Giacopianse in Liguria, Italy. The exceptional outline and form, ridges and crevices, and color combine to make this an exceptional landscape-type viewing stone. “Il Cocco” won an award of merit at the 2010 Crespi Cup in 2010 and the first prize in the “landscape stones” category at the 2013 AIAS congress in the village of Pointe all’Abate in Tuscany, Italy. Colombari also displayed this extraordinary stone at the Italian Sakka Kyookai congress in 2015.
This landscape stone is reminiscent of the snout of a crocodile. Thus, it was given the poetic name “Il Cocco” which is an abbreviation of the Italian word for crocodile. “Il Cocco” is owned by Colombari.
