This tray landscape penjing was made using a large rectangular-shaped white marble tray with a number of of Gobi Desert stones. To create this scene, master Shanghai artist Fu Canzhang cut most of the stones so they would have a flat bottom and then grouped them to create the natural bridge between the two larger stones. Considerable skill is needed to select and cut the stones and then arrange them to make a beautiful realistic appearing landscape scene.
