“The Thinker” was found on a rocky beach on the Southeast Coast of Puerto Rico, near Maunabo, about 10 years ago. The area is rich in basalt with a natural patina from the constant surf. The stone could have several interpretations. It strongly evokes an image of Auguste Rodin’s celebrated statue in Paris. This stone is 8.9 cm wide, 17.8 cm high, and 8.1 cm deep, including the base, and is in the collection of Jorge Mendizabal. Photo by Hugo Lopez.
