This month, March 2023 we feature his dense, deep black landscape stone was found in the Dai Nga River in the central highlands in Lam Dong province, Vietnam. The words Dai Binh is an older name for the Dai Nga River where this stone was found. This mountainous forest-covered province has deposits of basalt, which are weathered by the tropical climate and periodic monsoons. Some of these strongly eroded stones can be found in the mountain rivers. This beautiful stone was collected by Ninh Huu Hiep and is in his collection. The stone was displayed in his recent book on Vietnam stones and in the 2022 Japan Suiseki Exhibition. It is 32 cm wide, 9 cm high, and 11 cm deep.
