Seigaku

Seigaku, Shizuoka Prefecture, banks of Ashikaga River

Seigaku stones are usually black with deep wrinkles and lines and are usually viewed as mountain and waterfall scenes. They come from the earth and have to be mechanically cleaned and sometimes waxed or oiled before displaying in daiza. They are very similar to Furuya and some Abe river stones.
