Stone of the Month:

June 2022

"Emerging"

This small egg-shaped stone is composed of two types of rocks fused together eons ago. The contrasting colors and textures of the two elements together with the form suggest a flower bud, one that is in the early stages of opening. The dark red flower petals are still crumpled just before expanding into a beautiful flower. This viewing stone is symbolic of a new beginning or a new cycle of life that is emerging from a dominant bud. The stone is from a northern California river and the base was carved from black walnut wood by Phil Hogan to resemble overlapping bus scales. The stone and base measure 6.5 x 12 x 5.3 cm.
