“Beached”

“Beached” is an experiment in the search for new ways of displaying boat shaped stones. The expensive suiban is replaced by a thin wood panel that serves for the beach-like setting. A small boat has been dragged onto the sandy shore while the occupants are off on a search. Stone collectors should not feel confined to traditional Japanese methods of display. Instead, they should be open to creative ways of expressing feeling through the use of unusual stones. The stone in this display is 12 cm from stern to bow.
