The features of this colorful brecciated stone are unusual because they occur in distinct layers that were formed along a fracture zone in Liujiang County, Guangxi Province, China. This marble formed by heat and pressure produces various color patterns; however, the red alternating with white is more common. When cut, this stone resembles raw pork. As such, they are often cut and shaped into pieces that resemble bacon or other portions of a butchered hog. These pieces are sold as tourist souvenirs.
